Background:
We are excited to announce the Digital Young Filmmakers & Content Creators Program an innovative initiative designed to empower young men and women with practical skills in digital entrepreneurship, content creation, and short filmmaking while leveraging the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive health advocacy and social development using the SDGs as a roadmap. Using smart phones, the training program aims to equip young people (18-24) with digital skills in content creation, short film production, and distribution on platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.

Building on the success of the first edition in Lagos, which trained 30 youth in smartphone filmmaking and advocacy, the second edition expands its reach through hybrid learning and a stronger focus on sustainability. Participants will gain hands-on experience in creative video production, editing, and distribution, while also learning to use AI tools for scriptwriting, captioning, voiceovers, design, and digital promotion.
The initiative is an accelerated, integrated model designed to equip young men and women including those living with disabilities and HIV with essential leadership, business, and digital skills for employability, while facilitating linkages to economic and financial opportunities.”

The program equips young men and women not only to create impactful advocacy content on issues such as HIV prevention, gender equality, quality education, disability inclusion, climate action, and decent work, but also to turn their skills into viable income streams through digital entrepreneurship. Structured mentorship, a showcase festival of short films, and a long-term alumni hub ensure that learning translates into opportunities, visibility, and networks.

By the end of the program, participants will be better prepared to succeed in the digital economy, produce AI-enhanced advocacy content, and join a sustainable community of young innovators championing social change in Nigeria and beyond. They would have developed valuable skills that can lead to employability in the digital economy, as well as the ability to make a positive impact on their communities.

Beneficiaries will learn hands-on skills such as video shooting, editing and will be introduced to online business models, live streaming selling, and how to use social media platforms such as TikTok, YouTube to promote digital products. The training will entail three key aspects: Capacity building, post training Mentorship/ Knowledge exchange, Business support post training.

This is an initiative of the United Nations (ILO, UNAIDS, UNICEF, UNESCO UNFPA, WHO and GIZ) in collaboration with National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) and TV Yard Media.
